Reduce Your Risk For High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure affects 1 in 3 American adults.

Here are some important tips to prevent and treat high blood pressure.

1) Eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low in caffeine, salt (less than 1 teaspoon in a day, app 2,300mg), saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol. Drink plenty of water.

2)Maintain an ideal body weight by eating healthy and staying active.

3)Exercise as much as you can but at least do moderate activity of about 30 minutes exercise 3 to 4 days of the week.

4)Reduce stress by involving in activities such as yoga and meditation.
5)Quit smoking and avoid second-hand smoking.

6)Limit alcohol intake(no more than 1 drink per day for women and no more than 2 drinks per day for men.

7)Take your blood pressure medicines regularly as directed by your physician. Remember to keep taking your medicines even when you feel well.

Untreated high blood pressure can lead to heart failure, heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.
