August Is National Immunization Awareness Month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month which helps raise awareness and encourages everyone to make sure they are current on the necessary vaccinations. National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) highlights the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. Everyone should have their vaccination needs assessed at their doctor’s office and pharmacy
Many diseases can be easily prevented by administering vaccines. Vaccination protects the person receiving the vaccine, but also helps prevent the spread of disease, especially to those that are most vulnerable to serious complications such as infants and young children, elderly, and those with chronic conditions and weakened immune systems.
Adults need vaccination to be kept uptodate because childhood vaccines can wear off over time and adults are also at risk for different diseases.
